Description: Students conduct an interdisciplinary study of fiction by examining authors’ uses of storytelling on the page and directors’ methods on the screen. They compare and contrast the elements of fiction found in both mediums, while analyzing their uses and focusing on their respective effectiveness. Students develop and apply skills and strategies surrounding the reading process as well as strategies to comprehend, analyze, and evaluate fiction from a variety of cultures and times. They compose well-developed analytical texts and apply effective research skills to gather, analyze, and evaluate information. Students develop an understanding of the critical analysis of film through careful examination of cinematic adaptations of literary texts, focusing primarily on character development, dramatic structure, cinematic elements, and performance
